The DVM workshop 2024 will take place in the museum and seminar area of Zedler-Institut in Ludwigsburg.

With the “Life Cycle - The Product’s Life Cycle Bicycle” workshop, the DVM and Zedler are addressing engineers and technicians who are involved in the design, the development, the testing and the manufacture of bicycles, e-bikes and transportation bikes.

“The exchange of experience and knowledge in the field of technology is absolutely essential, especially in these challenging times, and therefore a must for all those responsible in the industry”, emphasizes Norman Thalheimer, the operational head of Zedler-Institut’s accredited test laboratory. “It has become clear that the DVM Bicycle Safety Working Group, which has been held regularly since 2008, has set important priorities for the development of bicycle durability and thus safety and sustainability.”

As in previous years, the event will be chaired once again by Dr Eric Gross (University of Technology Hamburg-Harburg). The focus of this year's workshop will include among others the effects of the intensive use of bicycles, the use of new materials, methods of manufacturing that take into account sustainability (e.g. EU Green Deal), the circular economy as well as extended testing methods to ensure mechanical and electrical product safety.

In addition to the presentations by the invited experts, participants can look forward to a varied supporting programme. A guided tour of Zedler-Institut's museum as part of the communicative evening event and of the four accredited test laboratories on the second day of the event will round off the intensive programme.

More information on the event itself, the programme and the registration are available at this DVM website link.
